The Cave at Ocean Way is located on the ground floor of Ocean Way Nashville in a private area with easy access to the parkling lot. Established in 2025 by Kevin Shirley, it is located in the heart of Nashville’s famous Music Row. Operated in conjunction with Belmont University, it will also be available for external bookings starting August 1, 2025.
Kevin Shirley, known as “The Caveman,” is a music producer, engineer, audio mixer and musician with a career spanning over four decades. He has produced and mixed for renowned artists such as Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin and Aerosmith, earning a reputation for his distinctive sound and production style.
The control room features a state of the art 72-channel SSL Duality console, offering unparalleled analog warmth and clarity. The studio is meticulously designed for both stereo and immersive Dolby Atmos mixing, providing a unique analog approach to Atmos mixing that distinguishes it from digital counterparts.
The studio boasts an impressive collection of classic and legendary outboard equipment. These tools, combined with the studio’s analog signal chain and console on-board audio processing, offer a distinctive and high-fidelity mixing experience. This bespoke setup ensures that artists and producers can achieve superior audio quality, leveraging the rich tonal characteristics of analog processing.
Nashville’s emergence as a global epicenter for music recording has been a driving force behind this relocation. While The Cave in Sydney provided a dream setting overlooking the ocean, the dynamic and thriving music scene in Nashville presents unparalleled opportunities for collaboration and growth. Shirley notes, “If you want to be involved in music at the highest level, you need to go where the music and the musicians are.”
Housed in a 100-year-old Gothic revival grey stone church, Ocean Way Nashville provides an exceptional acoustical space, and a rich history of musical excellence.
